On 26 February 2020, Goulding re-released the album once again for its tenth anniversary.

On 8 March 2011, the album was released in the United States, with two songs removed and featuring three songs that were previously not available on the original version, but were included on the Bright Lights reissue. It spawned two additional singles-a cover version of Elton John's " Your Song", which peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart, and " Lights", which reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and became Goulding's most successful single in the US. The album was re-released as Bright Lights on 29 November 2010, including seven new tracks. Four singles were released from the album: " Under the Sheets", " Starry Eyed", " Guns and Horses" and " The Writer". In North America, Lights charted at number 21 in the United States and at number 66 in Canada. Commercially, it debuted atop the UK Albums Chart with first-week sales of 36,854 copies. The album received generally positive reviews from music critics. Smith, Frankmusik, Richard "Biff" Stannard, Ash Howes, Liam Howe, Fred Falke and Mumford & Sons' Ben Lovett. Goulding collaborated with several producers on the album, including Starsmith, Fraser T. It was released on 26 February 2010 by Polydor Records. Album DescriptionLights is the debut studio album by English singer and songwriter Ellie Goulding. See More Your browser does not support the audio element. So while it may not offer anything particularly new, Bright Lights is a consistently enjoyable addition to her catalog, suggesting that Goulding is becoming a more accomplished songwriter, which if nothing else, bodes well for album number two.

There's nothing here as immediate as "Starry Eyed," as interesting as "Under the Sheets," or as delightfully melancholic as "Guns and Horses," but the majority of the new tracks are more memorable and more infectious than the rather repetitive, non-descript second half of Lights. Of the other new tracks, "Human" and "Animal" are smothered in the same lush acoustic/synth production and programmed beats that Starsmith incorporated throughout the original album, "Little Dreams" and "Lights" echo the sparkling electro-pop of Little Boots and La Roux, "Home" is a folk-oriented offering which showcases her gorgeously fragile vocals, and "Believe Me" is a glossy, dancefloor-friendly number co-written with former Longpigs frontman Crispin Hunt.

Of course, the whole project was spearheaded by her faithful, if unimaginative, cover version of Elton John's "Your Song," her biggest hit thanks to its use on a John Lewis TV advert, which sounds out of place alongside the rest of her more adventurous material on this album.

Reissued several months after the original album's release, Bright Lights adds a pretty generous amount of material, with seven previously unreleased songs joining Lights' initial ten. Having lived up to the hype bestowed upon her via the BBC Sound of 2010 and Brits Critics Choice awards she garnered at the beginning of the year, electronic-folk vocalist Ellie Goulding then fell into the increasingly popular trend of reissuing relatively new albums - in this case, her chart-topping debut Lights.
